SAHSN Vision, Mission & Goals
Vision
Through collaboration, Saskatchewan health partner organizations will
achieve excellence in the education of health professionals, in health
research and in the provision of health care services to residents of
Saskatchewan.
Mission
The
Saskatchewan Academic Health Sciences Network works to create an
environment of excellence among its partners where the education of
health professionals, health research and the provision of health
services are complementary activities enhanced through interdependent
relationships.

Goals
To
accomplish its mission, consistent with the Framework Agreement signed
January 2002, the Saskatchewan Academic Health Sciences Network will do the following:
- Under a broad
definition of health, promote and advocate the development of
excellence and interdependence in clinical services, health research
and education of health professionals for the benefit of residents of
Saskatchewan
- Ensure an effective forum exists
through the Network Board and its Committees to identify priority areas
for action and to resolve issues among the Network partners that
include the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon District Health,
Regina Health District, Saskatchewan Health, Saskatchewan Learning and
the Health Districts.
- Promote the optimum use of
skills of health professionals consistent with high quality and
professional standards, encouraging where appropriate the use of
interdisciplinary approaches and teamwork in clinical services,
research and education.
- Strive to ensure the
effective use of resources so that the best possible access to high
quality patient/client centered care is available to residents of the
province.
- Foster high quality research in selected
high priority health issues and thereby improve the competitive
position of this province in national research funding.
- Facilitate
the diffusion of research findings to health service and educational
programs in order to promote the ongoing adoption of best practices.
- Foster,
develop and continually enhance educational programs so that graduating
health professionals have knowledge and skills to advance high quality
clinical service, research and educational programs.
- Collaborate
with other academic health centres to achieve synergy in meeting mutual
goals in the areas of clinical service, research and health sciences
education.
- Advance the Network as a provincial
resource linking with other provincial organizations and all health
regions so to maximize the most effective use of resources for the
benefit of residents of the province.
- Develop a
clear accountability framework that describes expectations and
deliverables to be provided, building on the need for ongoing
monitoring, review and revision to meet emerging needs in the province.
